Welcome to the Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas (IPLAI) at McGill University. Now in our eighth year, we foster dialogue among disciplines at the university and with organizations outside of it. We are a collaboration of six faculties two schools and the McGill Libraries. We reorient the university and engage more deeply with the world-at-large.

We work on important questions ‒ public questions ‒ bringing artists and community organizations into collaboration with researchers. We create opportunities for creative teaching and learning, and involve students as active partners in major collective undertakings beyond the classroom. See our mission and vision.
