On behalf of the Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship (CSDC), it is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the conference Youth Political Participation: the Diverse Roads to Democracy, which will take place on McGill University’s downtown campus from June 15th to June 17th.
 
The conference will open on June 15th at 6pm with the keynote address by Professor Jan van Deth (Mannheim University), Youth and Democracy: The Endless Story of an Awkward Relationship. A cocktail will follow the presentation (food will be served).
 
This conference will offer a comparative perspective on the contemporary challenges of youth political engagement and tackle important questions related to voter turnout, youth diversity, participation in the digital age, youth and political parties, and the lowering of the voting age to 16. 
The conference will feature presentations by world-renowned scholars and roundtables formed by youth organizations, institutional actors and other civil society groups. Guests include: Elections Canada, several provincial electoral officers, the Assembly of First Nations, Samara Canada and Apathy is Boring.

The conference will begin with the keynote address, on June 15th at the Thomson House (3650 McTavish Street). All other presentations and roundtables will take place in McGill’s building La Citadelle (410 Sherbrooke Street West).
