Art Installation Competition

We are in the midst of transforming IPLAI’s space into a publicly accessible non-commercial gallery for showing thought-provoking art in all media and held our first art installation competition last year. This year’s competition will be focused on IPLAI’s satellite location at the Laboratory of Urban Culture, (LUC) housed at the Salon 1861 in Little Burgundy.

We invite submissions for a mural to be housed in the Laboratory of Urban Culture, on a wall that spans roughly 25 feet by 8 feet. We ask artists to pitch a mural design that reflects both their own artistic practice and aesthetic and which resonates with our goals at the LUC of community-facing work with the Little Burgundy community.

Requests to see the space welcome. Email Sheetal Lodhia at sheetal.lodhia@mcgill.ca to arrange.

The successful artist will receive a cash prize of $1000, and a budget of up to $500 for costs related to the creation and installation of the work. IPLAI may be able to assist with specific technical needs. To apply send the following materials by December 15, 2016:

  • Project description, max. one page
  • C.V./resume
  • Portfolio (examples of previous works, links to webpages, etc.)

*Applications accepted in English or French (hard copies only, no e-submissions)
